What if you used Microsoft Paint for your next ad?

Hey there!

Another week in the books! Christmas is close and couldn’t be more excited for the new year to kick off. It’s been a big year, but 2024 is going to be much bigger.

Let’s dive into this week’s ads I’ve collected.

MUD\WTR

Our marketing team is off, so we let our intern make an ad. I kinda get these vibes from this concept. If you’re from the 90’s or before you definitely will resonate with this ad as Microsoft Paint was the way to go back then.

I think the ad itself in terms of coffee is nothing different to any other mushroom brand promoting it, it’s truly the concept that stands out which make this ad pop in the feed. I do think the 2 bubbles below the headline are a bit hard to see as they kinda blend in with the background. If made yellow, I think they could have popped a lot more.

Apart from that, great ad with probably a good scroll stop rate.

BetterMe

I’ve seen this concept pop up a lot on my Twitter/X feed. I think it’s a great concept of visualising how your product/service can serve a different audience, but this also comes with the problem of it being too broad and not too targeted as this ad is targeted towards females from 45-65+. I don’t think for this specific ad this would be a problem as I can assume these audiences would be all pretty similar with small nuances and this ad does a great job at showing that.

Overall messaging is great on this ad too, catered towards women who experience weight gain after menopause. A lot of women would be interested into losing some pounds making this ad resonate very well.

I would recommend testing this out. For example, if you have a supplement brand you could showcase how your product could serve well for different ages as well or show how it helps people over a 30-day window to showcase the results they can experience.

AG1

AG1 is heading into Q5 (hate that word lmao, let’s call it Q1 from now on please everyone). What better way to start new habits in December than to get ahead of everyone else – AG1 is the perfect product for it.

First the concept, great concept of a news article style frame to fit this video in making it seem like an advertorial with a headline showcasing the offer. I think this offer works so well as they offer a year's supply of D3 + K2 which to anyone seems a lot.

Now the video is a generic 4 reasons why video but I do think it’s a very well thought out video as they exactly explain why someone should drink it every morning touching on a lot of problems people could face like bloating, digestion en general health. They also focus on a lot of pain points customers might face like focus without the crash.

The only thing I would say is that the ad is kinda general, as it focuses on general health and well-being and doesn’t focus on one problem which kinda is what AG1 is all about I know haha, but I think this ad could be a lot better if they start out with a specific problem to call out the audience which it lacks now.

Softwares I love

  • Triple Whale - The #1 tool we use at the agency. We wouldn’t be where we are today without Triple Whale. Get better data, make better decisions. Get 15% OFF here.

  • Frosted Files - I’m not a designer, but Frosted Files helps me get new static ads up in minutes. It’s the #1 tool for marketers without designing skills that want to test static ads quickly.

All the best,

Dennis 💚
