Ad Breakdown Episode 2: AirDrop Ad

... is trying to send you some images

Hey there! đź‘‹

Hope your week went well and are blessed with some solid sales. We have seen an increase in performance across a wide variety of clients. Times are tough but we came to realize that focusing on high-quality ads that are out of the ordinary is helping us bounce back from our last few weeks with average/meh performance.

Part of our strategy is to leverage simple statics to test quick ideas, but also isolate angles. It's as simple as swapping out the main headline of the ad and you have a whole new test in a matter of seconds. With a video it would take a much longer time to get this done.

For this reason, I wanted to do another ad breakdown episode in this week's newsletter. So here you go, it's a really unique static ad from True Classic Tees in AirDrop format:

I want to start out by saying I rarely see a brand running so many different ad variations and new concepts. True Classic Tees is a great example of a brand that gets its ads right—innovative, direct response and funny.

This ad is a great ad that plays into the before/after comparison. On the left side, they show someone wearing a loose-fitting tee and on the right side a great image of someone in their tee.

A great way to speak to the many men that wear ugly tees that don't fit right.

Now into the concept, I've seen many concepts over the years, but this one is really cool. It stands out from the newsfeed and it's native to iPhone so I think the CTR might be really high on a static image like this.

Tip: A split test they could do is try a dark mode version.

The copy in the image is great too. A big play on emotional triggers: Confidence & Sexy to speak to guys that want to look good for themselves but also for women.

Obviously, they could split-test the copies displayed in the image and try something like:

"Your wife is sending you some tees, check them out"

For actual ad copy, they keep it quite simple and focus on social proof. In this case, I do understand it as at the time this ad was/is live they are running a sale so the headline grabs the attention the most. However, some more explanation in the body copy would be great.

Overall I think it's a great ad that touches on a lot of emotional triggers like social proof, personal attributes and comparison.

Most Valuable Piece of Content

Every week I want to share a piece of content I've found valuable and learned a lot from.

I've been using Foreplay for months now, and I can honestly say it's one of the best value-for-money tools for any eCommerce brand, agency owner or anyone that runs paid media. It allows you to save ads from TikTok's and Facebook's ads library and keep them forever in your inspiration boards!

That's a wrap!

Hope you were able to level up your static game this week with all the value from this week's newsletter!

See you next week at 7 PM CEST.

All the best,

Dennis đź’š
